A craft dating back to the 14th century; Bidri is unique to the region of Bidar in north eastern Karnataka. An alloy of zinc and copper is sand casted and dipped into a boiling mixture of soil from the dungeons of Fort Bidarb : A chemical reaction caused due to the composition of this soil gives the zinc alloy a rich inky black patina.
