All of Petate’s products are made with natural fibers by different artisans from 5 different states of Mexico. We are a small enterprise that creates sustainable home goods and jewelry made with natural fibers and dyes, with the main purpose of maintaining the traditions and knowledge that some families of artisans possess and the use of local mexican fibers. We create products that radiate sophistication, awareness and style.
Some of our made-to-order earrings use wicker sourced from Queretaro, hand-loomed in the nearby village of Tequisquiapan. The threaded wall-hanger is made in the State of Mexico with wild grasses (called popotillo), fastened with beeswax and dyed shades of violet that tint to light pink pastels. And all of our baskets are made without colorants due to the lack of water that is available in the village of Tlamacazapa, in the state of Guerrero.
Our commitment is to support the artisan families that work alongside us, contributing to improve their quality of life thanks to fair trade.
