Gushka is a Ukrainian wool products workshop located in the mountain town of Kosiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The workshop produces warmth for the home, including woolen bedcovers (lizhnyk), rugs, and carpets. The project originated in the village of Yavoriv, recognized as the weaving capital of Ukraine. In the past, nearly every household in that village possessed a weaving machine, and the skill of weaving was widespread.
Gushka represents an endeavor to safeguard and reinterpret these traditions, providing a tangible connection to them. The carpets crafted by Gushka are fashioned from pure, natural wool devoid of synthetic additives. This wool is harvested annually from sheep that graze freely upon the pristine Carpathian meadows. The workshop places great importance on ensuring that not only the finished carpets but also the entire production process remains environmentally conscious. This approach aligns with the entirely natural and customary techniques handed down through generations, originating from our great-grandparents.
Through its efforts, Gushka rekindles reverence for the time-honored craft of weaving, enabling individuals both within Ukraine and internationally to grace their homes with high-quality Ukrainian products.
