REKH draws inspiration from Rajasthan's Shifting Sands Desert from the Thar Region. Bedside Runner made using handspun Khadi, which is handwoven meticulously by diligent craftsperson from Banskho, a village in Rajasthan. Subsequently, these Dhurries are handprinted in Bagru by master artisans.

Playful and geometric, the Norma Rug Rust was woven in a small village in Oaxaca. The camel colored background is a naturally existing raw wool color that is rare and hard to find! The Norma rug is named after the woman who introduced Sara to the weavers MINNA works within Mexico. It brings personality to any room!

The motifs were designed by adapting the organic forms of various plants such as the cypress tree and the pomegranate fruit from the region, to geometrical, cultural, and folkloric motifs. Some of these were inspired by motifs from classic Persian carpets which carry symbolic meanings, such as fertility, life, and eternity. Bustan Rug

A colorful Egyptian Kheyameya hung bright on famed French Artist Henri Matisse’s window as he laid nearly bed-ridden in his studio. His love for textiles, and specifically this Kheyemeya, a decorative collage of sewn together fragments of fabric, is what sparked a new technique that became the pinnacle of Matisse’s greatest collections. While his health had not allowed him to paint as he did decades before, he took to paper and scissors to create vibrant and joyful collages that became icons of 20th century art. In our latest collection, “The Cut Outs” we recreated Matisse’s process of taking textiles to paper collages, yet brought them back to textiles once more through this collection of Kilims. MATERIAL - Wool rug, hand-woven on a cotton base. All of Kiliim’s products are handcrafted, making each product unique. Slight variations and imperfections are embraced.

This piece comes from our Texture Stories collection which is all about the use of tactile mixes to create intriguing variations of texture, making the textures themselves the main design element of the pieces. This collection started out as an experiment on our part, seeing how new techniques, foreign to our craftsmen, could add a new dimension to our kilims. The design process was a great learning experience for both our design team and craftsmen who tossed ideas and samples back and forth throughout.
