Off White Small Square Jamdani Stole
Inspired by the universal ubiquitous "dot", this piece showcases the unimposing circle in a myriad of ways, transcending the ordinary and redefining the classic. The stole is at once both rustic and urbane. Hand-dyed in natural dyes, thee use of fine, handspun cotton in the weft gives the fabric its subtle, grainy texture and an amazingly soft handfeel. Gicha (handspun silk), zari (metallic yarn) and cotton have been used to create motifs.
At Karomi, we made 'design-driven Jamdani'. Jamdani weave has been an integral part of Bengali tradition. Jamdani motifs and designs aren't printed or embroidered, rather are woven directly on the loom using the 'extra weft technique'. This technique is passed down from generations through intense practice and discreet instructions followed by Jamdani weavers of Bengal (India).
At Karomi Jamdani is characterised by randomness in design patterns, whimsical play of forms and designs with large or no repeats, thus guaranteeing you an 'authentic' Jamdani that is both creative and modern.
