This Katakuru basket was handwoven by one of over 600 women artisans who earn fair and reliable incomes with WomenCraft. "Katakuru“ means "to pick up“ in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania. As such, our Katakurus are a beautiful option for a hamper, ideal for storing household items, toys or baby articles and also provide a beautiful option to display your potted plants. For this specific Katakuru, the threads of upcycled white Gunia grain sacks are intricately woven into the natural grasses of the basket. With it’s simple and modern design, this Katakuru will add style and character to your home.
