Story

Our 'Coastal Collection' is inspired by different aspects of Swahili culture from the East African coast.
The design shown here is a take on the kanga – a rectangular piece of fabric that has been a traditional type of dress for East African women since the 19th century. Kangas are worn as sarongs, shawls, baby carriers, head-wraps, aprons..., with multiple more uses beyond clothing.
In our kanga design, the central elements include plants that are commonly used for their fragrance. These include sandalwood chips, as well as sandalwood, patchouli and ylang ylang flowers.
