These lovely eco-friendly baskets are made with natural banana fibers and strengthened with a steel wire. These handcrafted storage baskets work equally well as storage and decoration throughout your home. You can use it to display greenery, store children's toys in the playroom, collect toilet paper or bath napkins in your bathroom, or organize gardening tools in the yard. Products are handmade and each piece is unique therefore any slight imperfection is an individual expression of that artisan's perfect handy work. Color - Natural. Slight variation in the color of the fiber is to be expected. Our banana fiber products literally come from nature. Handmade by local women in South India to provide better income opportunities; while respecting the region's natural ecology. The fiber used for crocheting this product is locally available and it's made out of the "dead" leaves of the banana trees. Previously considered waste, these leaves are now getting a new life in contemporary and sustainable design innovation.The banana leaves are spliced by hand to extract fiber strips followed by twining to make different thickness ropes which are then hand crochet and woven to make these eco-friendly storage baskets.
