Founded by high school Senior Gemma Levy in 2020, Moio is a Brooklyn-based jewelry brand and social enterprise that promotes Shona artistry and globalizes the markets of traditional artisan groups in Zimbabwe, empowering local communities to achieve financial independence and sustainable prosperity.

Descended from generations of Zimbabweans, Gemma created Moio with aspirations to support both established artisan networks and local Zimbabwean women. Moio trains women who have faced rape, gender discrimination, abuse and poverty to become proficient beaders, gaining the entrepreneurial and vocational skills to change their circumstances, breaking cycles of poverty and discrimination.

Each hand-crafted bracelet helps pave a path towards economic stability for Zimbabwean craftspeople, whilst celebrating the country's vibrant heritage, putting a modern spin on Zimbabwe's rich artistic traditions.
