About MAYU

Mayu’s expressive tableware designs—including its vases, glasses and bowls—are handmade to preserve the heritage of Guatemalan design, along with the temperature of your coffee. (Not to mention, your martini, or chilled tequila blanco, as well.) All of Mayu’s products blend a functional ethos with an artist’s eye and imagination. Small, contributing artisanal communities across Guatemala conjure up shapes, materials and colors to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. 

Many of Mayu’s custom and made-to-order items rely on time-tested, traditional techniques—like how they heat up their ceramics to extremely hot temperatures in order to smooth their designs. But we love how this brand—with one foot in the past and one foot in some wonderful fantasy land—is always reinventing its techniques to create new products. Which is an approach we could all take a cue from. And one that a well-chilled martini or tequila (your choice) can help us achieve.
