Story

The weaving and dyeing of the hammocks of San Jacinto is a technique inherited from the indigenous Zen√∫es by a group of artisan women. They make the textiles with cotton yarns that in some cases are softened with the chromaticism of natural pigments extracted from native plants. They weave the hammock thread by thread on simple vertical looms. The hammock that is woven remains as one piece, it is not cut, it does not have a finish or seam. The parallelism of color, the soft texture, the interweaving of the threads, the visible and discreet finishes characterize the traditional weaving of San Jacinto hammocks.
